Well with the highly anticipated run of Chinook salmon expected to migrate through our fishing grounds we worked the waters hard, and yes did it ever pay off. Guests got to experience some of the best Chinook and Coho fishing we have seen in years. The average size Spring Salmon ranged 23-27 Lbs throughout the summer, with many guests breaking the "Tyee" Mark; a Chinook salmon weighing over 30 Lbs.
Cheney Point was the choice of fishing grounds for guides Richard Reid and Daniel Hopkins. For myself, I chose to venture south to Cultus Sound, my long time personal favorite Chinook hole. Both locations produced many large fish, so it was a toss up deciding which fishing hole was the best. At any location, Spoons, Hoochies and Herring were the choice for the guides. We matched the size of bait and in most cases there was a lot of Needle Fish and Krill, so small spoons and Hoochies were producing more fish than traditional Cut-plug herring. Humpback whales, Orcas and Dolphins were almost an everyday occurrence in our location. Whale watching was very popular amongst many of our guests. We would like to thank everyone who joined us in 2011, and we look forward to seeing you as again in 2012. Booking in advance is highly recommended in order to make your trip one to remember.
